Agnes (Thiemann) Anderson, 92, of Olathe, Kan., passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Villa St. Francis Nursing Center in Olathe. A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Olathe, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Agnes was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Reedsburg, Wis., to parents Henry and Agnes Thiemann. She received her master's in history from the University of Wisconsin, taught for several years and joined the U.S. Army in 1942, where she served in the Pentagon for the duration of World War II, attaining the rank of major. On Aug. 14, 1945, she married Bernard L. Anderson of LaValle, Wis., and resided in the Philippine Islands until 1960, when she moved back to her home in Reedsburg. In 1963, she moved to Boone, Iowa, then retired to Panama City, Fla., in 1978, where she lived until 2004, after which she moved to the Kansas City area to be with family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard L. Anderson, in 1997; son, James Henry Anderson, in 1977; and a daughter, Elizabeth Jean Anderson, in 2000. She is survived by her children, Judith (Mark) Watson and Robert (Marcia) Anderson; and grandchildren, Katherine and Rebecca Anderson. She was an artist, teacher and avid golfer. Her life was filled with reading, learning, educating and inspiring others. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Reedsburg, Wis., at a later date.
