Agnes-M. Casey, née en 1916, est décédée le 10 mai 2011 à l'âge de 95 ans.
->Casey, Agnes M. (Duignan) Irondequoit: Passed away peacefully on May 10, 2011. At age 95, she often wondered why she stayed so long, but through illness and injury she held her head and spirit high. She journeyed through broken bones and the indignities of old age as she did through life, with quiet courage, grace, intelligence, and a very generous and humorous heart. And always with dignity. Agnes was the youngest child of Irish immigrant parents, and her siblings Marion Duignan, Marguerite Morris, Joe Duignan, and Gene Duignan passed away before her. Agnes married Robert Casey, an Army Captain and fellow Irishman, in 1943, and the following year saw the beginning of their large and loving family. Agnes was born in a time when women were not encouraged to attend college or pursue interests, yet her intelligence and love bore the greatest accomplishment of raising eight happy children, who were close to her and will forever be close to each other. Bob Casey died too young in 1974, and in the following years Agnes became a regular volunteer at St. Thomas Church, the Red Cross, and Meals on Wheels. She so enjoyed her travels to Ireland, Italy, France, Mexico, Hawaii, Medjugorje (Bosnia), and Alaska. She was a model for patience and calm under pressure, peace of heart amid turbulence, and understanding and acceptance of human weakness. She treated her adult children and grandchildren with respect, rarely offering advice unless asked. Most important, she kept her remarkable wit and humor until the end. Agnes will be missed by her eight children and their spouses: Maureen and Michael Ianacone of Atlanta, Robert and Kristin Casey of Altamont NY, Christine and Bill Barry of Fairport, Eileen and Richard Della Costa of Kendall, Margaret and William Neeck of Orange Park FL, Mary Jo and John Ferr of Webster, Sheila and Vincent Dollard of Atlanta, and Theresa and Rob Harris of Spencerport. Her 16 grandchildren were a joy in her life, as she was in theirs: Sarah, Michael, Kate, Erin, Brian, Megan, Laura, Daisy, David, Hannah, Christopher, Jamie, Philip, Alex, Hannah, and Casey. She also loved her seven great-granddaughters, her many nieces and nephews, and her friend and care-giver Beverly Houston.Agnes and her family were deeply appreciative of the excellent and thoughtful care provided by the 4th floor staff at St. Ann's Community and Lifetime Care. Please join the family for her Mass of the Christian Burial at St. Ann's Chapel, 1500 Portland Ave., on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 1PM. Parking is limited so you may wish to carpool. Contributions may be made in her memory to St. Ann's Foundation.
