Adeline J. (Mariani) Barrett, 89, of Walpole died April 17 at the home of her daughter in Whitman following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Barrett who died in 2010. Born in Walpole, February 16, 1923, the daughter of the late Alfonso and Berardina (Grossi) Mariani, Mrs. Barrett was a lifelong Walpole resident. Mrs. Barrett was a graduate of Walpole High School. A homemaker, her greatest joy was raising her family. She was an avid gardener, and she loved to read the Bible and watch Mother Angelica on television. She is survived by her children Robert J. Barrett and his wife Deborah of Marshfield, Stephen J. Barrett and his wife Karen of Elon, NC. Elizabeth Barrett Brown and her fianc Guy Thompson of Whitman and Daniel J. Barrett and his fianc Gail Gordon of Lynn. She is also survived by her siblings, Joseph Mariani of Arizona, David Mariani, Catherine Clark and Lucy Fay of Walpole, Jean McCarthy of Florida, and Connie Salamone of Needham. She was the sister of the late Angie Capone, Annie Manty, Josephine Schultz and Theresa Clark. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Her funeral was held on April 21 in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery South Walpole.
