PROSPECT HARBOR - Arthur James Williams, 87, died June 10, 2009, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born June 13, 1921, in England, the son of Fredrick and Susan (Cooke) Williams. The family moved to Canada when Art was 3 and soon after to New Hampshire. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Art was a contractor and brick mason. He completely rebuilt the historic Old North Bridge, Concord, Mass., in 1955. He opened and operated a recreational vehicle business in 1960 until his retirement. His family was raised in Massachusetts and moved to Maine in 1980. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge with a 50-year pin; past master of Lodge, Lincoln, Mass., and Anah Shrine. Art enjoyed lobster fishing in Maine. He is survived by sons, Richard Williams of Prospect Harbor and Courtney Williams of Natick, Mass.; sisters, Mildred Walton of Laconia, N.H., and Mary Krogman of Franklin, N.H.; grandchildren, Mende, Michael, Gene, Neal, Stephen and Susan Williams; and a very special friend, Mary Myrick. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Margery (Wry), in 1987. Family and friends are invited to a time of fellowship 4-6 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at 42 Rock Cove Road, Prospect Harbor, with a Masonic service 6 p.m. Interment will be at Canton Cemetery, Canton, Mass.
