Ann Orr SavageNovember 8, 2011Ann Orr Savage, 85, of Fort Myers, FL passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.Ann was born May 23, 1926 in Newark, NJ to James Orr and Laura McGlumphy, lived in nearby Short Hills, graduated from Kent Place School, and attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia. Married to Robert Savage in 1951, they moved to Westfield, NJ and had three children - Cathy, Duncan and Doug. The family lived in Paris and London for three years beginning in 1963. Returning stateside to Westfield, Ann was active in the Presbyterian Church and Highland Swim Club, as well as co-founding the Gingko Twig in nearby Plainfield. Ann enjoyed listening to music, gardening, and hiking trails in Vermont where she summered on Lake St. Catherine as a child. In 1995, Ann and Bob retired to Shell Point Village in Fort Myers, FL. Ann was active in the Sanibel United Church of Christ where she was Clerk of Church Council and sang in the choir.Ann is survived by her husband, their three children with spouses/partners: Cathy Crandell (Jim) of Chatham, NJ, Dr. Duncan Savage (Dr. Stefan Swicker) of Delmar, NY and Doug Savage (Tanna) of Cumming, GA. In addition, she is survived by Duncan's former wife, Joan Savage of Delmar, NY as well as Ann's six grandchildren: James and Julie Crandell, Evan, Daniel, Matthew and Luke Savage.A celebration of Ann's life will be held at the Shell Point Village Church on Saturday, December 3rd at 1:15pm.If you wish, contributions may be made in Ann's memory to the Shell Point Larsen Pavilion, 15000 Shell Point Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
