ALVA ESTHER SMITH (nee MUTTART) Passed away peacefully Thursday, October 1, 2015, after a lengthy battle with dementia. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, John "Jack" Smith and her sister Lela. She is survived by her daughter Nancy, son David (Kathryn) and her four loving granddaughters Elizabeth, Miriam, Amy and Erin. Alva was born in Marshfield, PEI and although she lived most of her life in Don Mills, ON, there was never any question where she called home. She will rest with Jack back home in Marshfield. Alva worked at both Upjohn pharmaceuticals and Sunflight Vacations in Don Mills. She was a graduate of the Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown, a longtime member of NYNA, a world traveller, a baker, designer, walker, curler, camper and bridge player. There will be a family service at a later date. If desired, donations in the memory of Alva may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
