KEMPNER, Texas - Mrs. Alice Jane Smith, age 65, of Kempner, Texas, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Scott & White Hospital, Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel, Augusta, Ga. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Augusta, Ga. Mrs. Smith was born Alice Jane Ermann on December 24, 1942 in Fort Smith, Ark. to Gregory Ermann and Emma Jo Parrish Ermann Elizalde. She married Escol S. Smith, Jr. on May 25, 1959 in Poteau, Okla. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors include her husband, Escol S. Smith, Jr. of Kempner, Texas; daughter, Diana Smith of Kempner, Texas; son, Randy Smith of Houston, Texas; brother, Michael Ermann of Homosassa Springs, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Jordan Newman and Aliceson Newman, both of Kempner, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Carol Smith; and two brothers, Gregory Ermann and David Ermann. Services under the direction of Sheppard Funeral Home, Copperas Cove, Texas.
