He was born on August 6, 1945 in Palmdale, CA to George and Virginia Carter. Alan was a graduate of Haverhill District schools. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed by Borden Chemical Company for 32 years. He was a loving and devoted husband, dedicated father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. Alan was also an avid runner, talented craftsman and pickleball champion. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed the beach and mountains as well as camping. He especially loved travel and family time.He is survived by his wife of 47 years Barbara, sons Daniel and James, daughter Lorianne Iannalfo and 9 grandchildren, mother Virginia, brothers John, Ken and Wayne, and sisters Mona and Donna. He was preceded in death by his father George and brother Norman. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home at 4:00 P.M. visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00P.M. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
