JOHNSON, AGNES JILL, 92Ocala - Agnes Jill Johnson, 92, of Ocala, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Born in Chicago to parents who were emigrants from Lithuania, she visited and fell in love with Miami in the early 1940's. An optimistic and adventurous spirit, she soon returned and worked as a superb hairstylist at a Miami Beach hotel, where some celebrities became her clients. In 1946, she joined Aaxico Airlines as a stewardess, flying routes from Miami to Puerto Rico. While in Miami, she met and married her late husband, James "Ray" Johnson, in 1947, and later had to two children, Jim and Karen. They enjoyed a very happy marriage together for nearly 60 years. Jill always felt that the most important "career" of her life was to be a homemaker, wife, and mother, and for this, she deserved an A+. A wonderful person, Jill will be loved and remembered by her family and friends as a loving, thoughtful, kind, self-reliant, and generous wife and mother. She was completely devoted to her family, giving them support and strength, never asking anything in return. Jill was a caring listener and always there to help guide, and nurture her children and grandchildren through their lives. Spirited, creative, and enthusiastic, she was an accomplished artist, excellent dancer, music lover, and world traveler. A devout Christian, her spiritual life was very important to her. She also enjoyed various charitable and social clubs. Jill's was truly a life well lived. We will miss her warm smile and lovely essence tremendously, but her spirit will always be with us, guiding and giving inspiration to live our lives in her example. She was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by children, Karen L. Johnson and James R. Johnson, Jr., and his wife, Claudia; and granddaughters Kristen Tillett and Erin O'Connell. A celebration of Jill's life on this planet will be held in a memorial service on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Unity Eastside, 8551 Bucklake Road, Tallahassee; a reception will follow at the church.
