A. Louise 87, formerly of 203 Walnut St., Athens, PA passed away Monday June 10, 2002 at the Heritage Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born in Laquin, PA March 18, 1915 the daughter of Earl C. and Laura Elliott Smith, she attended Athens High School. She was formerly employed at Blue Swan Mills in Sayre from 1946 to 1977. She was an active member of the First Church of God, Sayre; a member of the Athens Senior Citizens Club and the Retired I.L.G.W.U. Sayre Chapter, where she served as secretary for many years. She was well known for her wedding and birthday cakes. She was predeceased by her husband, Claude H. Johnson, November 17, 1981. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Arlene and Gilbert Rogers of Sayre, PA; Donald Tiger and Donna Johnson of Sayre, PA and Gene and Joyce Johnson of New Port Richey, FL; 9 grandchildren; Michael, Michelle, Jeffrey, Steven, Connie, John, Lori, Julie and Robert, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Rev. Lynn H. Lorraine Smith of Rockville, MD, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may call Thursday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 South Main St., Athens, PA. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Kimberly Clark, pastor of the First Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of God Building FUnd, 416 North Keystone Ave., Sayre, PA 18840.
