Susan Elaine Kelly of Endwell Susan Elaine Kelly, 58, died April 13, 2010 at her residence in Endwell, NY. Susan was born March 6, 1952 at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital in Pennsylvania. Susan started preschool when she was three years old. The Association for Retarded Citizens sponsored a class taught by Peg Gibbore. She continued in special education classes in public school, graduating from Union-Endicott High School in 1973. Under the Broome Tioga Chapter, N.Y. State Association for Retarded Citizens, Inc., Susan managed to work at various site locations performing a wide range of jobs. She had a strong work ethic and received several awards including "Worker of the Month". Susan also handled working two jobs at one time while during her many years at the Sheltered Workshop. Susan was involved in girl scouts, dancing, bowling and swimming. All of these activities were under the auspice of the ARC, now known as ACHIEVE. She learned swimming at the Boys Club and bowling from her Dad. She participated in track and swimming in the Special Olympics. Her favorite trip was to California as an Olympian where she medaled in swimming. Square dancing to the accordion played by Pete Gibbore was another highlight. Susan was a loving person who brought joy and delight to all she met. She reached her potential in life with the guidance of her family and caring, wonderful adults who work with ACHIEVE. Special thanks and gratitude are extended to all who have aided Susan on her journey, especially those who cared for and resided with her on Hamilton Drive. Susan was preceded in death by her loving father, John W. Kelly. Survivors are her mother, Marjorie Kelly of Pawleys Island, SC and her husband, Wade Rinehart; brother, Michael Kelly of Tampa, FL; sister, Camille Natale of Endicott, NY and her husband, Vince; sister, Robin Rossi of Pawleys Island, SC and her husband, Joe; also five nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service and celebration of her life will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday from the Endwell United Methodist Church, 3301 Watson Boulevard, Endwell.
