Nellie Ruth Grubbs Burgess, 83, of 306 Snow Street, widow of Douglas Burgess, Sr., died January 17, 2008, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Frank and Ida Belle Bagwell Grubbs, she was a retired employee of Union Carbide and a member of Southside Baptist Church.Surviving are a son, Douglas (Butch) Burgess, Jr. of Greer; a brother, Manley Grubbs of Gastonia, North Carolina; three granddaughters, Ashley Nicole Hipps and Samantha Leigh Heine, both of Spartanburg and Melanie Ann Coker of Greenville; and three great-grandchildren, Jonah Coker, Jacob Heine, and Teresa Heine.Mrs. Burgess was predeceased by two sons, Ricky Burgess and Randy Dean Burgess; and a daughter, Barbara Jane Burgess.Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Burnsview Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev.
