WILLIAMS, Margaret Christine RossPeacefully on Sunday, June 9th at St. Patrick's Home in Ottawa at the age of 105 years, after a full and active lifetime of faithful service to Jesus Christ and the Presbyterian Church.Born in 1908 in Nova Scotia, she became a licensed teacher at seventeen and taught in rural one-room Pictou County schoolhouses during the late 1920s and early 1930s. Following graduation from the Presbyterian Missionary and Deaconess Training Home in Toronto in 1935, she was designated to the Order of Deaconesses within the Pictou Presbytery. For the remainder of her long and extraordinary life, she joyfully and tirelessly served in a Christian leadership role in several Canadian provinces as a school teacher; youth worker; Women's Missionary Society organizer; worship leader; organist, soloist and choir director; minister's wife (Rev. J.W. Williams); library assistant in Knox College, University of Toronto; women's shelter worker; hospital visitor; church elder; and parish librarian. On her 103rd Birthday in 2011, she was honoured by the Ottawa Presbytery for completing her 75th full year of service in the Order of Deaconesses.Her memory is cherished by her sons Kenneth and Glen and their wives Pauline and Carol- Lynne, grandchildren Stephan, Annie, and Maggie, great-grandchildren Adam, Oscar, and Marion and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and their families all across Canada.Funeral 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 at Parkwood Presbyterian, 10 Chesterton Drive, Ottawa.Donations in lieu of flowers to Knox College, University of Toronto."He shall give His angels charge over you to guard you in all your ways."
