Joan Clark, spouse of Norman Clark, daughter of Argyle and Jean, died. Please consult the obituary here:
CLARK, Joan (nee McMurchy)August 18, 1932 – April 11, 2015With great sadness, Joan's family announces her passing on April 11, 2015. Joan was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, eldest daughter of Dr. Argyle and Jean McMurchy. She spent most of her childhood in Saskatchewan, until she left to obtain her BSc in Nursing at the University of Alberta. There, Joan met the love of her life, Norm. They were married on May 5, 1956, and moved around Alberta as Norm started his engineering career. The happiest years of Joan's life followed, bringing up her four children, in Red Deer, Edmonton, Calgary and finally Red Deer Lake. Joan was a devoted and feisty mother and grandmother, and loved the family gatherings and celebrating the achievements of her children and grandchildren. With a true love of education, Joan never missed a high school graduation or university convocation, so proud of each and every achievement of those she loved. Joan was an avid sports fan, had strong political views, and loved her bridge games, playing with the same ladies for many, many years. Joan cherished her friendships, particularly her nursing classmates and Red Deer Lake and Millarville neighbors. Most of all, Joan loved Norm, her very best friend through almost 59 years of marriage. Joan is survived by her husband, Norman, her sister Jan (John) Herschmiller, her children Cindy Roberts (Jim), Carole Goodreau (Leroy), Deb (Fairbanks) Stewart (Iain) and Bob Clark. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Riley, Shea, Brett, Grady, Keegan, Carley, Sarah, Josh, Hayley, Jamie, Sam and her extended family. Joan was predeceased by her parents, her son-in-law Stew Fairbanks, and her daughter- in-law, Mary-Ann Clark. At Joan's request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of Joan's life will take place at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Joan's name may be made to the Millarville Community Library, Box 59 Millarville, AB T0L 1K0. or to the charity of donor's choice. In living memory of Joan Clark, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
