MCKENZIE, George B., 73, of Lake Placid, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Florida Hospital in Lake Placid. He was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada to parents, Guy and Matilda McKenzie. He was a retired electrician for U.S. Steel and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He had been a resident of Lake Placid since 1987, coming from Hobart, Ind. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Lake Placid Elks Lodge 2661, Moose Lodge 2374, VFW Post 3880, and American Legion Placid Post 25. Mr. McKenzie was preceded in death by both parents; a sister, Eleanor McKenzie; and brother, Gordon McKenzie. He is survived by his loving sisters, Blanche Andrews, Shirley Grabka, Cora Bourgeoise; brothers, Raymond Jerald, Kenneth, and Guy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will greet friends between 10 - 11 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2006, from the chapel of Scott Funeral Home, 504 W.
