JONES, ELLA MAE (RICE), 85, Prospect, KY, passed away Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 peacefully at home, succumbing to a long struggle with cancer. She was very active all her life loving her family, friends, and giving to others through charities and church related activities. An avid reader, she was up on all social issues and loved her country. Born on January 15, 1926, in Selma, CA, she was the daughter of Eldon and Hazel Rice. She married May 7, 1947, resided in Stockton, CA, 1949-1968, resided in Olathe, KS 1968-1971 and resided in Louisville, 1971-2011. She is preceded in death by her brother, Eldon Rice; and daughter, Jerri Lynn Jones. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Walton Jones; a daughter, Linda Lombardi-Hall, of Louisville; sons, Steven Jones, of Olathe, KS and Eldon Jones, of Prospect; three grandsons; 10 granddaughters; nine great grandsons; nine great-granddaughters; two great-great-granddaughters; one great-great grandson; a sister, Pat Wade; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service for Ella will be held May 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the long term care fund that has been set up for the severely autistic child, Jacob Martin, son of the wonderful care-giver Ella had in her last days.
