David M. Huntington, 71, Oxford, Mass., passed away at home December 25, 2007, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley A. (Doherty) Huntington, Oxford, Mass.; his son, Russell D. Huntington and his wife, Donna, and their sons, Justin and Ian, Webster, Mass.; his daughter, Lisa D. Huntington and her husband, Bruce A. Ware, and their children, Sarah and Samuel, Oakham, Mass.; his daughter, Julie M. Kudron and her husband, Mark, and their children, Delaney and Daniel, Oxford; a sister and a brother; several sisters- and brothers-in-law, including Lester Doherty; cousins, nephews and nieces, including Kristi L. Stout, her husband, William, and their children, Kali and Kameron. He was predeceased by a daughter, Diane M. Huntington, who died in 1960. He was born in Worcester on October 11, 1936, the son of the late Addison F. and Catherine (MacQuarrie) Huntington, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1964. He graduated from South High School in Worcester in 1954., Mr. Huntington served as business agent for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 4 in Worcester and business manager for the former Pipefitters Local 408 in Worcester. He was vice president of the Worcester-Fitchburg Building Trades Council and participated in many community activities, including Dads Against Diabetes, the handicapped ramp program, and a food bank program to assist out-of-work union members. He enjoyed woodworking, and was a longtime friend of Bill W. In his retirement, he loved his treks to Florida to get away from the cold winters, but usually returned home early to be with his six grandchildren, whom he adored. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, at the First Congregational Church, 355 Main St., Oxford, Mass. Burial will be private. Calling hours are today (Thursday, December 27) from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, MA (508) 987-2100. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, c/o the Tribute Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. www.paradisfuneralhome.com
