Obituary of Alice-Lawton-Goldman Butler


LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mrs. Alice Lawton Goldman Butler, widow of Broadus J. Butler and Henry J. Goldman, entered into rest Thursday, September 11, 2003, at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, September 14, 2003, at Hephzibah Baptist Church, Lincolnton, with the Rev. Allen Danner officiating. Mrs. Butler was a life long resident of Lincoln County, and a retired textile worker and homemaker. She was a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church and the senior Adult Sunday School Class at Salem Baptist Church. She was a very loving mother, wife, grandmother, friend and neighbor, who will be truly missed by all. Survivors include two daughters, Lovie Jane Smalley of Lincolnton and Betty Steele and husband, Orville of Hephzibah; six sons, Robert (Bob) Goldman and wife, Mary, Billy Joe Goldman and wife, Sandra, Racy Goldman and wife, Mary, all of Lincolnton, Harvey Goldman and wife Elizabeth of Goose Creek, Raymond (Gene) Goldman and wife, Cynthia of Birmingham, Ala., Ronnie Goldman and wife, Debra Goldman of Augusta; one stepson, ONeil Butler of Lincolnton; two sisters, Grace Moore of Evans and Frances Cook of North Augusta; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Thomas Goldman, Tony McGahee, Harvey Goldman, Jr., Buddy McGahee, Gerald Steele, Dr. Billy Goldman Jr., Jonathan Goldman, James Kersey, Joey Goldman and John Martin. Memorial contributions may be made to Hephzibah Baptist Church or to Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 1750 Hephzibah Church Road, Lincolnton, GA 30817. Friends may call at the residence of Robert (Bob) Goldman, 1836 Thomson Hwy., or from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday at Rees Funeral Home, 195 Peachtree Street, Lincolnton; 706-359-3222.
