FITCHBURG -- Alcide A. Richard, 72, of Fitchburg, died Tuesday evening, June 14, in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Lake Avenue Campus, after an illness. He was born on Sept. 27, 1932, in Fitchburg, the son of Maxime and Anna (Babineau) Richard and had lived in Fitchburg all of his life. He attended school in Fitchburg and then went into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.Mr. Richard was a member of Maplewood Golf Club in Lunenburg and enjoyed spending most of his time with his family and grandchildren. He worked in the Fitchburg School Department at Fitchburg High School for 28 years, retiring in 1995. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church.Mr. Richard leaves his wife of 43 years, Azilda (Robichaud) Richard; his three sons, Robert J. and his wife Paula Richard of Annapolis, Md., Michael J. and his wife, Susan Richard, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and John J. and his wife, Jennifer Richard, of Lincoln; his daughter, Charlene M. and her husband, Michael Testa, of Templeton; a brother, Philip Richard of Templeton; four sisters, Alvida Cormier and Adrienne LeBlanc, both of Fitchburg, Simone Mulkern of Holden, and Bernice Dickinson of Leominster; six grandchildren, Ellie, Evan, and Erik Richard all of Annapolis, Md., Madeline and Sadie Testa of Ashburnham, and Camille Richard of Lincoln; and several nephews and nieces.RICHARD -- On June 14, Alcide A. Richard, 72, of Fitchburg. The funeral will be held Saturday, June 18, from the Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchbug, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 58 Walnut St. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery will be private. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701; or to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.Published in the Sentinel & Enterprise on 6/16/2005.
