William Bill Darwin Age 85 of Gillett, PA, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Highlands Personal Care Home, Laporte, PA. Bill was born on December 18, 1915 in Elmira, NY the son of the late William E. and Lora Mae (Bennett) Smith. On September 5, 1942, he married Louise E. Lowe, and together they celebrated 59 years of marriage. Bill was in the maintenance dept. at the F.M. Howell Comapny in Elmira, NY, retiring in 1968 after 26 years of employment. He is survived by his wife, Louise E. (Lowe) Smith at home; sons, Mark W. Smith, Thomas L. (Diane) Smith, Dean E. (Linda) Smith, all of Gillett, PA; daughter, Lucille Ann Avery of Ithaca, NY; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Roy E. Smith of Elmira, NY; sister, Theadore Zepp of Gillett, PA. Friends are invited to call at Roberts Funeral Home, Inc., 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Funeral Service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 8 p.m. with Pastor Rick Wulf of the Bentley Creek Baptist Church officiating.
