Virginia Pauline Evans Johnson-Sims of Douglasville passed away June 18, 2011. She was born March 27, 1930, in Atlanta. She was 81 years old and had resided in Douglasville and Cumming. She worked with Southern Bell for 30 years and retired in 1986. She loved life and especially her family. Cooking was her specialty and she always put family first. Her family could count on her generosity and kindness to go above and beyond to meet their needs. Mrs. Johnson-Sims was preceded in death by her husbands, William Jesse Johnson Sr. and Howard Sims. Survivors include her son, William Jesse Johnson Jr. of Temple and wife Becky Johnson; son, John Phillip Johnson of Douglasville and wife Redonia Johnson; daughter, Candy Rainwater of Lithia Springs and husband Glenn Rainwater; daughter, Cheryl Johnson of Winston; daughter, Angie Smith of Villa Rica and husband Glenn Smith; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 22, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kenneth Hennesy officiating. Following the funeral service Mrs. Johnson will be cremated and the cremated remains will be buried at Sunrise Memorial Gardens on Thursday, June 23, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, June 21, from 6-9 p.m. Those who wish to express condolences online may do so at www.whitleygarner.com.
