Thomas L. Anderson, 93, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012. His family will be receiving friends at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, N.J., 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be from the funeral home on Tuesday at 9 a.m.The Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be offered at St. Philomena's Church, 386 S. Livingston Ave., Livingston, at 10 a.m. followed by the committal service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Thomas was born in Orange, N.J., and was raised in South Orange, N.J. He then lived in Livingston, N.J., for 55 years before moving in with his daughter and son-in-law five years ago in Parsippany, N.J. During World War II, he was a staff sergeant with the Army Air Force, participating in the North Apennines, Po Valley, and Central Europe campaigns and earning the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Medal with three bronze stars. Tom retired in 1986 from R.H. Wager Co., Chatham, N.J., after 35 years as a marine engineer. He was a member of the Livingston VFW Post No. 2856 and the Livingston Knights of Comubus No. 3533. As a communicant of St. Philomena's Church, he also served as an usher for over 15 years. Tom was also a proud member of the Livingston Auxiliary Police from 1952 until 1972. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Marcella, and his daughters, Lynn P. Brady and Deborah M. Anderson, he is survived by his devoted daughter, Betty E. Aurillo and husband Anthony; loving grandchildren, Lisa Maurer, Alexis and Thomas Brady, Nicole Lacz, Anthony Aurillo and Travis Anderson, and cherished great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Devon and Harrison Maurer, and Emmalyn, Maximilian and Wolfgang Lacz. Please omit flowers but donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home for the Alport Syndrome Foundation, 1608 E. Briarwood Terrace, Phoenix, Ariz. 85048.
