Thomas A. Grant III, 73, died Feb. 17, 2009, at Indian River Medical Center. He was born in New York City and was a longtime resident of Fort Pierce. He was employed with the St. Lucie County School Board in the transportation department. He served in the Air Force and Army Reserve. Survivors include his wife, Verna Coplin Grant of Fort Pierce; sons, Carl David Mason of Fort Lauderdale, Thomas A. Grant IV of Virginia, John Grant of Tucson, Ariz., and Marcus Grant of Fort Pierce; daughter, Ursula Grant of Fort Pierce; and sister, Norgie Grant-Bigger of Washington, DC. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at Stone Brothers Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at East FL Primitive Baptist Association Temple, Fort Pierce.
