Thelma Middleton-Williamsof Endicottformerly of Brooklyn, N.Y.Thelma Middleton-Williams, known to some as Mommie, Grandma and Mema has gone home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2004 after fighting her cancer battle. Born October 21, 1931 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Simon and Maggie Williams. Thelma was known to have the spirit of an angel. She is survived by her siblings, Bernice and Othniel Lawrence, Jessie and Geraldine Williams; her children, Barbara Middleton and husband, Robert Greenberg, Edward Middleton, Linda and her husband, Timothy Fleming, Louise Middleton , Dorethea and husband, Scott Mullens, Francis Wright, Margaret Wright and Sherri Middleton; her special cousins, Maretta and Bernard Wilson; and close friend, Wilimena Green. Thelma is also survived by her 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Thelma worked at what was known as New York Telephone Company for several years until she retired in 1997. Soon she would move the to Southern Tier and be closer to her family. Thelma had a joy for cooking and sewing and would often take late night trips to Wally's World so she could buy gifts to give to those who needed it. The family would like to express their thanks to Lourdes Hospital, and the Hospice Unit for their help and support. Thelma will be greatly missed by many.Funeral service will be held Friday, May 21, at 11 a.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main Street, Endicott. The Rev. Robert Crentsil will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until the service at 11.
