Thelma Davis, 88, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 17. Services are on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 83 Elizabeth Ave., Newark, N.J., with Rev. Kippie C. Brown officiating. Thelma was married to the late Charles Davis Sr., a newspaperman and boxing promoter. She served as the chief dietitian and nutritionist at the U.S. Veterans Hospital for many years. After retiring from the V.A., she owned and operated the renowned Thelma's Satellite VIP Lounge and Supper Club. Thelma enjoyed an abundant and glorious life. She loved traveling, shopping and enjoyed the glamour and glitz of Atlantic City, Vegas and cruise ship casinos. An Eastern Star, she was a caring, generous woman. She maintained membership in several charitable and civic organizations. Thelma will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Charles B. Davis Jr. (Valerie); five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; a sister, Mary Wade (Clayton); nieces, Sharon Spearman (Alvin) and Shelley Foster Plush, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
