Obituary of Thelma-Dick Whitaker

WHITAKER, Mrs. Thelma Dick, age 89, a resident of Auburn, AL, died Monday, February 25, 2002 in Flushing, NY. Funeral service will be held at Oakgrove Baptist Church on Saturday March 2, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Mt. Ester Church Cemetery. Mrs. Whitaker was a member of Mt. Ester A. M. E. Church and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church and Longreach Church of God. She furthered her education at Tuskegee Institute, Cornell University, and Kansas State University. Her career included: teaching home economics and early childhood education at Alabama A & M University in Huntsville, AL, Tuskegee Institute and Alabama State University. She was married to the late James Thomas Whitaker. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Thelma J. Whitaker of Flushing, NY; son, William J. (Beverly) Whitaker of Hanau, GE; son, George C. (Irene) Whitaker of Columbia, MD; grandchildren, Cory Whitaker, Kyle 'Angel' Whitaker, David Whitaker, Mark Whitaker; aunts, Emma Jeffries, Sue Gibbson, Juanita Gillard.
