Susan Williams ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mrs. Susan Smith Williams of Rock Hill, S.C. passed away at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House on February 2, 2015, due to complications from Polyneuropathy. She was 69 years old. Susan was born on July 4, 1945, and was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Wilma U. Smith. She was married to Edward L. Poteat in 1966 and had three sons. Following the death of Edward Poteat in 1993, she married Larry D. Williams, who had three children of his own. Susan dedicated her life to the study and the occupation of nursing and to her family. In her later years, she went on to earn a Master's degree in Pain Management from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Her greatest pleasure in life was the love of her family and friends. In addition to her husband, Susan is survived by her eldest son, Chad Edward Poteat and his wife, Shannon T. Poteat of Columbia, S.C. and their three daughters, Susan Leigh, Anna Lane and Elizabeth Summers; her second son, Robert William Poteat of Brunswick, Ga. and his three children, Alexander Blue, Brianna Lane and Bethany Rose; her youngest son, Matthew Alan Poteat and his wife, Leah P. Poteat of Indian Trail, N.C. and their three children, Brady Edward, Madison Terese and Josie Christine and her step-children, David, Marilyn and Michael Williams. She is also survived by her older sister, Kay Marshall and her husband, Edward Marshall of Brookfield, Wis. and their children, David Marshall, Robert Marshall and Laura DuChateau, as well as her younger sister, Barbara Chenette of Canton, Ga. and her son, Jason Chenette. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Greene Funeral Home's Northwest Chapel located at 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill, S.C. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Susan's life.
