Sue Kern Smith, 91, died Aug. 15, 2004, in Charlotte, N.C. She was born on Aug. 16, 1912, and was the daughter of Minnie Pinson Kern and Earl Howard Kern. She was predeceased by her husband, Swinton L. Smith; and stepson, Bennett B. Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Smith Watts, and her husband, Ray, of Charlotte; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.The family will receive friends immediately following the service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to New Salem Baptist Church, P.O.
