Sophie McKenna of Endwell Sophie McKenna, 85, passed away on Saturday morning at the Vestal Nursing Center, Vestal NY. She was a resident at the Marion Apartments in Endwell, NY. Born in Throop, PA on July 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Stella Kiesel. When she was a teenager she moved to NYC with her sister where she lived for many years. Sophie worked at the NYC Library and met her husband, David McKenna. Sophie and David were married and then moved to Mountaintop, PA where they had and raided their only son, Gary. Sophie worked for the Eberhard Faber Company in Mountaintop for many years and was a member of the St. Jude's Church there. Sophie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The thing she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her family. She was kind and loving, and always put her friends and family first. She had the sweetest most generous soul and the world was definitely a better place with her in it. We all love her dearly and she will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. Sophie was preceded in death by her husband, David; her sister, Stella and her husband, Ted; her sister, Bertha and husband, Tony; her brother-in-law, Stanley; and her great-grandson, Dylan. Surviving are her son, Gary and wife, Barbara; her grandchildren, Mandy, Fred, Tom and Audrey; her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Tavian, Jade, Ashtyn, Zayden, Austin and Amber. Her sister, Helen; sister-in-law, Mary McKenna; and brother-in-law, James McMullen, also survive. The funeral will be held on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. from the McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountaintop, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the St. Jude's Church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-9 at the funeral home.
