MOUNDVILLE Sara Jean McCray Williams of Moundville realized the ultimate victory on Tuesday September 3, 2013 as she came face to face with the Savior she served faithfully her entire life. She was 83 years old.Mrs. Williams is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Roland S. Williams, Jr. and sons Dwight Williams (Rebecca) of Birmingham and David (Libby) Williams of Tuscaloosa. Left to cherish the memory of Maw-Maw are grandsons, Sam Williams of Nashville and Spencer Williams of Tuscaloosa, and granddaughter Taber Bailey of Nashville. She is also survived by her brother, David Glenn McCray (Bettie) of Northport, a host of nieces and nephews, and her many friends in the Moundville Community.Services will be Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Moundville Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Jason Duckett, Ed King, Don Smith and Don Springer. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is handling arrangements.Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ida McCray; and siblings, Nelson McCray, Virginia Walker, Cecil McCray, Lewis McCray, Melba Lawrence, Fannie Belle Lucas, Annie Ruth Parsons, and Ernest Paul McCray.Pallbearers will be Michael McCray, Randy McCroy, Tommy Lawrence, Scott Williams, Tony Lester, and Steve Caldow.Honorary pallbearers are Esther Sunday School class and WMU of Moundville Baptist Church.Throughout her life, Mrs. Williams held many titles: daughter, sibling, wife, sister-in-law, aunt, mama, mother-in-law, Maw-Maw and friend. But perhaps her greatest joy was that the word Christian could precede each of those names.She was a faithful life-long member of Moundville Baptist church and was found there at every opportunity for service, having been a Sunday School Director, teacher in Sunday school, Training Union, and Vacation Bible School, choir member, numerous committees and as WMU director. She always made a point of welcoming visitors to God's house, for she had a passion for missions, and wanted all to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Recognizing the beauty of God's creation she enjoyed the time she spent taking care of her flowers and making sure that flowers were provided for worship services at the church.Her home was always open to family and guests. Every holiday and occasion was made even more special by her fun spirit, vivacious laughter, and wonderful meals and dishes.We will miss her terribly but know that she is now enjoying in reality the words of her favorite hymn "This is my story; this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long."
