Obituary of Ruth-L. Williams


Mrs. Ruth Lawson Williams, age 85, of Florence, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at ECM Hospital, after an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Lauderdale County and a member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ.Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Greenview Memorial chapel, with burial to follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating at the service will be Brother Corey Collins and Brother Richard Taylor.Mrs. Williams is survived by a son, Joe Skipworth and wife, Christine, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two grandchildren, Cary Skipworth and Darae Hamilton, both of Winston-Salem; three great-grandchildren, Alisha Hamilton, Samantha Skipworth and Tatum Skipworth, all of Winston-Salem; six sisters, Ethel Weaver, Myrtle Riley, Ludie Gifford, of Florence, Edna Rikard of Peoria, Ill., Emma Jean Clemons of Killen and Carolyn Nichols of Leighton; three brothers, Stanley Skipworth of Tuscumbia, William Skipworth of Morganton, N.C., and David Skipworth of Decatur; and a very special niece and nephew, Barbara and Billy Riley.Pallbearers will be Rodney Gifford, Carroll Skipworth, Gerald Clemons, Marshall Skipworth, Danny Olive and Nathan Russell.Honorary pallbearers will include Norman Riley, James Riley, Billy Riley, Eddie Ray Nichols and Jason Scott.Greenview Funeral Home of Florence is directing.
