Ruth Carithers Davis, a resident of the Locust Hill Community, passed away March 1, 2007, at Oakmont Nursing Center in Greenville. Born in Madison County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late William Jones and Sallie Cauthen Carithers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cohen; and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by Hall Hollifield, brother-in-law, of Greer; Marion Reed, niece, of Greer; Martha "Mott" Buff and her husband, Dean, of Nebo, N.C.; and several other nieces and nephews. She was a long-serving member of Locust Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Davis retired from Meyers-Arnold Department Store. She was department manager and an assistant to the buyer. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, at Locust Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Hall Hollifield and the Rev. Nikie Balliew, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Buff, Phil Buff, Ralph Gravely, Curt Hollifield, Leon Hix and Vic Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Loyalty Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.The family is at the home of the Rev.
