Mrs. Ruth B. Williams - SAVANNAH - Mrs. Ruth B. Williams, 77, passed away peacefully February 18, 2010, under the excellent and professional care of Hospice of Savannah surrounded by family and friends. Mrs. Williams was born on May 6, 1932 in Bainbridge, GA to the late Robert and Laura Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan D. Williams. Mrs. Williams was a 1953 graduate of Savannah State College, now University and enjoyed a fulfilling career as an educator in the Savannah Chatham County Public School System until retirement. Mrs. Williams was a faithful member of Butler Presbyterian Church where she was one of the founding members of the M.G. Red Circle, and the H. L. Pinckney Gospel Choir. She was a member of the Chancel Choir, established the Saturday Morning Bible Study, and served as the Moderator of the Deacon Board. Mrs. Williams also held the honor of Butler Presbyterian Woman of the Year for 2009. She is survived by her son, Varick D. Williams and daughter-in-law, Yolanda Mitchell Williams of Cerritos, CA; two grandchildren, Kayla Morgan Williams and Nicholas Dean Williams of Cerritos, CA; a sister, Dr. Joann Pride of West Palm Beach, Florida; nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
