Robert Lee "Bob" Smith COLUMBIA, SC-- Graveside service for Robert Lee "Bob" Smith, 94, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2012, in Newberry Memorial Gardens, Newberry, SC. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Smith died Friday, December 21, 2012. Born in Campobello, he was a son of the late Tandy G. and Vesta Fain Smith. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a POW. He retired from Sears after 31 years of service. A member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, he loved music. As a member of the band Aristocratic Pigs, he played fiddle and guitar at Bill's Pickin' Parlor and Arsenal Hill, a social club for retired people and was a regular performer on WIS Radio. Surviving are his sister, Ann Herman of Greer; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith of Inman; stepchildren, Virginia Motley of Elgin, Brenda Kirkland of Ridgeway, Judson Smith of Elgin, Beth Lyle of Columbia and Bunny Luther of Cheraw. He was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn Higgins Smith; second wife, Nancy Jo Smith; son, Robert L. Smith Jr.; two brothers, T.G. Smith Jr., Hamish "Dick" Smith of Inman; and a sister, Ruth Smith Ellison of Greer. Memorials may be made to Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, 4205 Kilbourne Road, Columbia, SC 29206.
