Fredericks, Robert J. SPEIGLETOWN Robert J. Fredericks, 81, of Speigletown, died suddenly on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Veronica Snedecor Fredericks. Born in Troy on November 14, 1930, he was the son of the late John J. and Sarah Corrigan Fredericks. Robert grew up in Green Island where he resided for 46 years before moving to Speigletown. After his retirement, he and Veronica became winter residents of Bradenton Beach, Fla. Robert was employed by Allied Signal/Bendix, in Green Island, retiring in 1986. He was also the owner/operator of Fredericks's Plumbing and Heating in Troy. Robert had the honor of being the youngest licensed master plumber and journeyman pipe fitter in New York State. He was also a skilled trades chairman for the U.A.W. Robert was a member of the Watervliet Elks 1500, the Moose Lodge of Bradenton Beach, past president of the Green Island Rod & Gun Club and a former member of the Vagabond Club. Robert was proud to be the founder of Unicorn Lake, Inc. He enjoyed being with his family and spending time at the family camp. He will truly be missed by all. Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Veronica, include his children, R. Curtis Fredericks of Bradenton, Fla., Charlene (Michael) Oliviere of Speigletown, John (Maryann) Fredericks of Speigletown, Stephen (Billie Jo) Fredericks of Rotterdam, Joseph (Joan) Fredericks of Speigletown; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and his older sister, Dorothy (Thomas) Ward of Green Island. He was predeceased by his brothers, John J. and James Curtis Fredericks. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Ave., Green Island. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment, St. John's Cemetery in Troy. In lieu of flowers, contributions to either the Major Projects Fund, c/o the Watervliet Elks 1500, or the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
