Robert Gibbons, 89, died July 19, 2005. He was a native and lifelong resident of Fort Pierce. Before retirement, he was a chief engineer with the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority for 27 years. He was a member of St. Helena's Catholic Church in Clayton, Ga., and St. Mark's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 2046, both in Fort Pierce. He enjoyed beekeeping, gardening and working bingo at the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Esterline Gibbons of Fort Pierce; sons, Bobby Gibbons, David Gibbons, Kenny Gibbons and Joe Gibbons, all of Fort Pierce; daughters, Carol Ammons of Baton Rouge, La., and Nancy Gibbons of Duluth, Ga.; sister, Jeanne Lyell of Cocoa; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Grotto Fund, 1924 Zephyr Ave., Fort Pierce, FL 34982. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. July 21 at Yates Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Pierce. A prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. July 22 at St. Mark's Catholic Church.
