GIBBONS, Robert "Bob" 92, of Pinellas Park, passed away at his residence under the care of Hospice. He was the son of George & Eileen Gibbons. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Doris (Ruane); 2 sons, Robert M. (wife, Kathleen), Portland, ME, & Michael E. (wife, Marta), of Garrison, NY; and 2 grandchildren, Jesse (wife, Nicole) and Jennifer, both of Gloucester, MA. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, George Bernard Gibbons and Vincent Gibbons. Bob was a graduate of the Salem School System. As a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, he served for 5 years (1940-1945) as a Radioman, 2nd Class, mainly aboard troop transports, in both the No. Atlantic and So. Pacific including the invasion of Okinawa. He was a supervisor for AT&T telephone co. where he worked for 34 years before retiring in 1978 and moving to Florida. in 1980. He was a member of N.E. Telephone Pioneers and was active in the Mainlands Unit VI Golf League and Social Club. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 11 am at Sacred Catholic Church, 8001 46th Street N, Pinellas Park. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
