Robert G. Waters, 79, died July 19, 2008, at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton. He was born in Lawrence County, Ill., and lived in Port St. Lucie for 17 years, coming from Gary, Ind. Before retirement, he was a machinist for Lever Brothers in Hammond, Ind., where he worked for 43 years. He was a member of the Elks Club 2658 in Port St. Lucie, the Lever Brothers Quarter Century Club, the Oil & Chemical Union and the 400 Ballroom Dancer Club. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty Waters of Port St. Lucie; son, Robert G. Waters Jr. of Crown Point, Ind; daughters, Marilyn K. Blink of Lakewood Ranch and Peggy J. Dayhoff of Boca Raton; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Alger, Warren and Ralph Waters; and sisters, Mary, Marie, Florence, Lola and Doris. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. July 21 at Byrd Young & Prill Funeral home in Port St. Lucie. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. July 22 at the funeral home chapel.
