Rita Torrenson Cocks, 94, died Sept. 26, 2008, at the VNA Hospice House. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for eight years, coming from Highland Mills, N.Y. She attended Thevent Hall of Highland Mills. She was a charter member of Highland Mills Fire Co. Auxiliary and member of Catholic Daughters of America, St. Patrick Church of Highlands Mills and the Woodbury Senior Citizens. She was a volunteer with Care Net of Vero Beach. Survivors include her sons, Frederick Cocks of Monroe, N.Y., Thomas Cocks of Boca Raton and Michael Cocks of Highland Mills; daughter, Rita Carlson of Vero Beach; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Cocks; and daughter, Mimzie Provost. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 5 at Cox-Gifford-  Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach followed by a prayer service. Out-of-town arrangements are by Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home in Highland Mills. There will be a Mass at Bethany Retreat House and burial in St. Anastasia Cemetery in Harriman, N.Y.
