Prudence Jane Evarts Robinson, 83 MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Prudence Jane (Evarts) Robinson, Registered Nurse, 83, passed away peacefully on Feb. 9, 2013. Daughter of Volney Joseph Evarts and Gladys Mildred Evarts, she was born in Waltham, Vt., on May 14, 1929, and raised in New Haven, Vt. Jane graduated from Beeman Academy in 1947 as valedictorian. She attended Middlebury College for two years where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. She received her R.N. license in 1952 after graduating from Mary Fletcher School of Nursing in Burlington, Vt. Jane met her husband Donald while waitressing at Higgins Beach Restaurant in Scarborough. Donald was in the Air Force Reserve and being deployed to Germany as part of the Korean War effort, so she was granted special permission to marry six months prior to graduation. While living in Germany, they were able to travel to many locations taking many beautiful photographs while touring the countryside. Donald and Jane returned to the United States in November of 1953, where they settled down in Portland. After years of private duty nursing and per diem work at the local hospitals, she worked in various nursing homes. Eventually, she worked at St. Joseph's Manor as a day supervisor, then set up and directed the Adult Day Care Facility there. Jane had a passion for cooking. There was always an aroma of something delicious cooking on the stove or baking in the oven. Her family and friends were the grateful recipients of her yummy care packages. She was blessed with the creativity gene and had several hobbies to include sewing, stenciling, ceramics, and fishing. She was very fond of animals, especially her cats, Peaches, Scooter and Grey. When the youngest child graduated from high school, the couple relocated to Cocoa, Fla., and then to Melbourne, Fla. Jane resumed her position as a private duty nurse, and then expressed her delight to her family members when she cared for the children who attended the NASA Space Camp. For many years, she and Donald came back to Maine for the summer to be closer to family and friends. She was deeply loved and revered by her husband of 60 years, Donald, who passed away in November of 2011, and truly loved and admired by her children. She leaves two sons, Dale Robinson and wife Pamela, Cris Robinson and wife Sarah, three daughters, Kaye-Don Daniels, Lynn Jenkins and husband Terry, Kymm Zecman and husband Kevin; eight grandchildren, Erica- Lyn Plante and husband Jeremy, Lisa Marie Gossom and husband Timothy, Ann Marie Connolly and husband Andrew, Lindsay Robin Daniels, Hallie Jaine and Mathew Jenkins, Allison and Noah Robinson; and three great- grandchildren, Elizabeth and Hannah Plante, and Aubrey Olivia Connolly. At her request, there will be no visitation or services but a memorial service is planned next summer in Maine. Arrangements by Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, Melbourne, Fla. 321-724-2222. Please sign guestbook and share memories at www.afcfcare.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society. Prudence Jane Evarts Robinson
