Obituary of Pauline Brown


Pauline Brown (nee Martin) Portage Pauline Brown (nee Martin), age 81, of Portage, formerly of Gary and Hobart, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2005. Pauline was a member St. Bridget Church in Hobart, a veteran of the U.S. Army-WAC, where she served in Karachi, India. She was an excellent homemaker and seamstress and showed her pride in her Slovakian heritage through her cooking. Her family always looked forward to her homemade cookies at Christmas time. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents: Mary and Michael Martin; her sisters: Betty Gerlach and Helen Matsey and her brothers: Willie and Eddie Martin. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Leon Brown of Portage; daughter, Beth (Jim) Webster of Hebron; two sons: Ken (Claudia) Brown of Portage and Paul (Sue) Brown of Hebron; one sister, Marge Murray of NJ; sister-in-law, Mary Martin of Hobart; eight grandchildren: Joyce, Trisha, Jaclyn, Matt, Nikki, Melissa, Michelle and Heather; great-grandchildren: Alton, Thomas and Kelsey; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street, Hobart, going to St. Bridget Catholic Church, 568 E. 2nd Street, Hobart, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Dominic V. Bertino, officiating. Friends may meet with the family at Burns Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to St. Bridget Church Capital Improvement Fund.
