RAYMOND - Paul Edward Spence, 49, died peacefully at home on Oct. 31, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was born on Dec. 20, 1962, in Manchester, Conn., the son of Edward and Grace (Schweizer) Spence of Middleton, Mass.Paul grew up in Middleton, Mass., graduated from Masconomet Regional High School, and attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He was employed for over 25 years as the quality assurance manager for Hansen Aerospace Industries in Danvers, Mass.A resident of Raymond for the last nine years, he was very involved in the community as a coach for the Raymond Youth Athletic Association Babe Ruth Program, and as the vice president of Lamprey River Softball. He and his wife Wendy also helped improve the skills of many young athletes through their locally based PAWS Fast Pitch Softball program.A loving husband, amazing father and an incredible friend, Paul was always willing to help others in his community. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, canoeing and gardening. He also loved his two hounds and always looked forward to a good backyard barbecue.In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 12 years, Wendy Anne (Lewis) Spence of Raymond; his daughter, Samantha Taylor Spence of Boston, Mass.; his son Dylan Paul Spence of Raymond; his brother Michael Spence of Middleton, Mass.; and his aunt Sandra Spence of Windsor, Conn., and brothers- in-law David J. Lewis and Christopher "Booma" Lewis of Beverly, Mass. . SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 2 Epping St., Raymond.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Beyond the Rainbow Fund: Support for local cancer patients.
