HICKS _ Patricia Mary passed away peacefully on February 13, 2006, and will be sadly missed by her extended family and her many friends. Pat was born in Portsmouth, England on October 31, 1938 and came to Vancouver from Dublin, Ireland in 1957. She worked for many years in the medical profession as a doctor's receptionist and surgery booking clerk. She was an excellent tennis player and enjoyed sailing and gardening. She and her husband Stu Hicks of 25 years loved to travel and enjoyed the theatre and music. She was a loving daughter, mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren of her extended family. She is predeceased by her father George Michael White and survived by her mother (Mary White), brother Christopher White, nieces Kyla and Kristy, her son Declan (Sheri) Pybus and grandchildren (Shannon, Ryan, Janelle); her stepsons Tim, children (Robert, Michelle), David; her stepdaughters Julie (Ron) and children (Sonya, Elaine), and Mary (Garth) and their sons (Ross, Alan, Martin) and cousins and family in England. Thank you to those who did so very much to provide companionship and support during the last year of her life. A very special thanks to sister-in-law Ruth, friends Sharon, John, Janet, Jenny, Christine, Stu, Trevor and Mary and the many other friends and neighbours who spent many hours consoling, helping and provided support to Pat and her family. Thanks also to Dr. Maria Parnes, the staff of the Vancouver Cancer Clinic and all the wonderful nurses of the Palliative Ward of the VGH for their kind ministrations during this trying period. A Memorial Service will be held in First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 602 Kingsway, Vancouver, on Saturday, March 4th, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation for the Palliative Care Unit.
