LANDRY (YOUNG), Olive Marie - Peacefully at the Thessalon Hospital, after a brief illness, Marie (Young) Landry on March 3, 2009 in her 98th year. Wife of the late James E “Jimmie” Young (March 3, 1967) and the late Frank Landry of Stratton, Ontario. Beloved mother of the late Bill Young (Anita) (late Nancy) of Wawa, Bob Young of Bruce Mines, Ken Young (Marlene) (late Shirley) of Sault Ste Marie, and the late Paul Young (Joanne). Step- mother of the late Gladys Joyce Young Deschene. Daughter of the late William and Mary Jane “Minnie” Hall, sister of the late Vivian (late Hazel) (late Sally) Hall. Loved Nana of Della-Marie Iley, Steven Young, the late Ramona Young, Janet Deslauriers, Betsy Wunder, Rob Young, Don Young, Angelisa Mills, Jim Young, Joe Young, Allan Young, Sherri Viotto, Travis Young, Amanda Young and Jake Young. Great-grandmother of 20 and great-great-grandmother of 11. Dear aunt and friend of Betty Greenlee of Orlando, Florida. Marie was born on Cockburn Island and raised in Sault Ste Marie, the chosen daughter of William and Minnie Hall of Hall's Bakery on Queen Street. She married Jimmie Young (Steel City Motors and Steel City Coach Lines) and raised four sons in Sault Ste Marie. The cottage at Upper Island Lake was a favourite retreat where squirrels and chipmunks were hand fed, even indoors. As a young woman Marie was known for her ability to swim the length of the lake. After Jimmie's death she managed Steel City Coach Lines. Until last year, Marie was a long time resident of the Finnish Rest Home and had many friends there. Many thanks to the kind staff at Light Haven Christian Home in Bruce Mines. Special thanks to Dr. Brynlea Barbeau and the nurses at Thessalon Hospital for their compassion and exceptional care. Friends may call at the Pine Hill Church of Christ , 132 Cunningham Rd., on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2 pm. Mr. Lloyd Hotchkiss officiating. Final resting place in West Korah Cemetery. Memorial Donations to the Pine Hill Church of Christ or the CNIB would be appreciated by the family.
