Nelson-Leonard Davis, born in 1954, son of Foster and Beverly, died on December 31, 2011. Please consult the obituary here:
NELSON LEONARD DAVIS - JERICHO - Nelson Davis went to our Lord peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 31, 2011, after a long battle with kidney failure. Nelson was born to Foster and Beverly Davis of Jericho on June 12, 1954. He spent childhood years on the family's dairy farm in Jericho. He attended area schools and graduated from Mount Mansfield Union High School in 1975. After graduation, he went to work for Butch King, then Noyes Tire and Morris Construction. After a motorcycle accident and a grueling long recovery, he went to work at Essex Rental in the small engine repair shop for two years. Nelson went on to discover his passion for working on motorcycles and repairing all types of bikes, preferably Harleys. He helped all his many friends work on their bikes and spent the next 30 years doing so. He loved to listen to everyone talk about their biking adventures, and was able to have his own adventure to Sturgis, N.D. to the National Bike Show, swat meet. He got to talk to people from all over the USA who shared the passion of biking and make even more friends. Nelson leaves his many friends and family with a large void in their lives. He will be greatly missed and remembered with good memories. As to his "prankster" antics, everyone would say, "that's just Nelson being Nelson." He had a good personality and a strange sense of humor (ya think?). Nelson is survived by his sister, Diane Davis; niece, Krystal Williams; brother, Dean Davis; and his beloved cat, Taffy. In addition, Nelson is survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins residing in Vermont, Maine, Arizona, and Florida. He leaves behind his closest friends who have helped and supported Nelson for many years, Paul and Roberta Gillespie, Bobby McGregor, and Bill Breen. Nelson was predeceased by his mom, Beverly, in 1983; and his dad, Foster, in 1986; as well as several aunts and uncles. Many thanks to the Visiting Nurse Association who took care of Nelson's medical issues and who made him more comfortable at home during his last years. Also, Morph Transit who took Nelson to and from dialysis the past three years and Essex Rescue who made uncountable trips to the hospital with Nelson. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Gifford Funeral Home, 22 Depot St., Richmond. A graveside service will follow in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation - Finance Department, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016. Ride on Nellie!
