TALLADEGA - Homegoing Celebration for Roy Lee Simmons, 82, will be Wednesday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at Rushing Springs Baptist Church, the Rev. Clarence Woodward, Pastor. The Rev. Hardy Reynolds Jr., the Rev. Everett Askew, the Rev. Willie Ed Simmons, the Rev. Clarence Woodward officiating. Burial will be in Lane Chapel Church Cemetery, Talladega. Mr. Simmons will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service. Mr. Simmons died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Citizens Baptist Medical Center. He was educated in the Clay County School System, a member of Hollins Spring Baptist Church where he served on the deacon board, retired from Anniston Army Depot with 44 years of service, and a member of the Riding Wheels Motorcycle Club. He was preceded by death by wife, Annie Simmons; parents, Edgar (Ethel) Simmons; brothers, John, Willie and Ulysses Simmons; sister, Maggie Wilson; daughter-in-law, Patricia Simmons. Survivors are sons, Benjamin Simmons of Gadsden, Wesley (Betty) Simmons of Munford; daughters, Lou Ann Simmons, Patricia Simmons, both of Talladega, Carroll (Charles) McClammy of Birmingham, Charlotte Barclay of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Cora Collins of Talladega, Hildra Stove of Ashland; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.
