Mona-Louise-Craig Davis, spouse of John Davis, daughter of Scottish and English, died on March 22, 1923. Please consult the obituary here:
DAVIS, Mona Louise Craig (nee Bruce) March 22nd, 1923 May 4th, 2012 It is with great sorrow and loving memory that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother on Friday, May 4th. Mona was predeceased by her husband, John (2008); her son, Craig (2008) and her sisters, Joan (2008) and Barbara (1986). Born to Scottish and English immigrants in Dollarton, BC Mum grew up in Dollarton and West Point Grey. She attended Queen Mary Elementary, Lord Byng Secondary and the University of British Columbia. Mum served her country during World War 2 as a civilian employee of the Royal Canadian Navy (Chart Depot) in Victoria. After the war, my parents returned to Vancouver where they built our family home in West Point Grey. Mum worked for the Vancouver Public Library for many years, a position that brought her great joy and satisfaction. My parents moved back to Victoria in 1997 to live on Rockland Avenue, just one block away from where my Dad was born. Over the past 15 years, Mum continued to relish life here; she loved reading (British magazines, history, Scottish poetry and novels); driving along Dallas Road to see the cruise ships; going out to restaurants with friends and family; Sunday night and holiday dinners with friends and family; welcoming her great grandchildren into the family; as well as completing many crossword puzzles each day. Even in times of adversity, Mum had a smile that could light up a room and those around her. My mother left her family and friends a legacy of love, compassion, curiosity and resilience. All who were fortunate to know her will dearly miss Mona. She is survived by her loving daughter, Julie (Ian); granddaughter Lisa (Al, Jaxon and Maddox) and grandson, Michael (Amy, Ana). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews (Laura and Greg; Bruce and Penny; Stewart and Penny; Donald and Chris and Barbee and David) and their families. Our family would like to thank all of the health care professionals who supported Mona over the past years; in particular, Dr. Geoff Inman and his wonderful office staff; the staff and residents of Shannon Oaks who made Mona and our family feel so welcome; and the caring staff of Glenwarren Lodge who also lovingly and respectfully supported Mona over the past months. We would also like to acknowledge and thank David, Helga, Laura, Lynne, Debi and Mary for their enduring friendship with Mona; she truly appreciated being included in so many celebrations, dinners and activities. A graveside service at the family plot in Ross Bay Cemetery will be held at a later date. "What is there to do when people die-people so dear and rare-but bring them back by remembering.
