MOORE, SC-- Michael Reese Smith, 61, of 200 Old Farm Road, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2007 at his home.Born in Spartanburg on April 22, 1945, he was a son of Evelyn C. Carr of Roebuck and the late James C. Smith. He was retired from Springs Industries, was of the Catholic faith, and was a member of Star of the Sea Church in Virginia Beach, VA.In addition to his mother, he is survived by his life partner, Michael Daniels; a son, Michael Smith, Jr. of California; a daughter, Doris Maddox of Georgia; a brother, Larry Smith and wife Pat of Spartanburg; four grandchildren, Stephine Blanchard, Christopher Maddox, Joshua Maddox, and Oscar Smith; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Elaine Gallman.The family will receive friends at Dunbar Funeral Home on Saturday, April 7, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 6:00 PM at the Lanford-Dunbar Chapel.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of South Carolina, 500 Taylor Street, Suite 10, Columbia, SC 29201-3000.The family will be at the home of Larry and Pat Smith, 854 West Road, Spartanburg, SC 29306.Online condolences may be made to the family at www.lanforddunbar.com.Dunbar Funeral Home& Crematory
