->AUGUSTA -- Michael Glen Smith, 61, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at his residence in Augusta.He was born and raised in Texas before serving his country in the Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, Mike worked in construction as a truck driver. He later moved to Maine, where he found employment at Togus in different capacities over the years. He volunteered at the VA, worked in the VA Recreation Department, the VA Police Department for many years, and for the last year managed the Gate Lodge.He is survived by two daughters.At his request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A graveside committal service with full military honors will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, in the chapel at the new Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.In lieu of flowers, donations in his Mike's memory may be made to Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta 04330. 7175330
