Melissa Karol Smith December 5, 1970 - December 8, 2006 COLUMBUS, GA — Melissa Karol Smith, 36, of Columbus, Georgia died Friday, December 8, 2006 in Birmingham, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus with Reverend Udell Addison officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers: Ruperto Rodriguez, Andrew Collier, Brett Daniel, Matthew Mason, Daniel Phillips, Trey Barfield, Trent Barfield and Dustin Sutton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Born in Columbus, Melissa graduated from Columbus High School in 1988 and later graduated from The Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology. She worked as a Radiologic Technician and X-Ray Transcriptionist. Survivors include her mother and step-father, Sue and V. Frank Petty, her father, Lacy Smith; a sister, Amanda Collier, her husband Andrew Collier, and their son, Carson Collier, all of Columbus; her grandparents, Greg and Joyce Bell, of Yellville, AR, C. H. and Patricia Curenton, Columbus, GA, Jewel Wadkins, Columbus, GA, Grace Foster (and Pat Ð deceased), Lilitz, PA, Walt and Martha Brogdon, Phenix City, AL; special aunts, Kay (Leonard) Mason, Midland, GA and Sharon (Marc) Cook, Midland, GA; special cousins, Brett (Tracye) Daniel, Columbus, GA, Brent Daniel, Columbus, GA, Matthew Mason, Midland, GA, and Larry Mason, Columbus, GA; three step-sisters, Sandra (Ruperto) Rodriguez of Phenix City, AL, Pamela Barfield, of Fortson, GA, and Angela Hooper, of Columbus, GA. She leaves behind a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Melissa was predeceased by but has now rejoined her dear friend, Paul Hester.
